Well I decided that I should finish up 2010 with a recap of what went on this year. Nothing to special as far as lives go but it was a full year. The best way to explain is categorize!
Opening of 2010
- Started the year the best I could, On a BIKE!!! The year started with the annual New Years Day Hangover Ride to Bluffton. This ride was a riot with much debauchery on the way there and sheer mayhem on the way back. All in all 26 miles and to many drinks to count!!!!
Health
- Well my health was fairly well. Throughout the year I was able to stay healthy in a physical sense with very few illnesses. Mentally, might be a different story as I have battled what many would consider depression on and off with the many different life scenarios that happened throughout the year. Physically strength I started on the upside and became a little lazy as the year closed out and now must start the next year off from square one!
Family
- My family has stayed very similar to where last year ended. Mom is kicking along in pretty much the same fashion that she has for the past 15 years. She has been a little less mobile these days but continues to do what she does at Luther in the Music Office and at home. Dad has gradually gotten better as the year went on. The year started off a little sluggish as he continued to get over medical but he was pretty much back to normal as the year progressed. He continues to work at WMC in the ER (where I made no visits this year!!!). Erik had probably the most interesting changes as he went from being my single brother to my married brother in the the matter of a year. He finished off 2010 as a month old newly wed. He got his first job in Washington,IA at the local catholic elementary school. Bailey, the shortest member of the family has learned new tricks in her first year as a Rockwell. She learned the couch, table leg, and anything else that falls on the floor is wonderful to chew on. She has found skiing, running, and biking to be very fun activities as well as chasing her ball. She has become a plump little puggle puppy!
Occupation
- I can officially say that I may be the only person to work for 8 or more different schools/jobs in one year and still can say I will continue to work for at least 4 of them this coming year. Started the year off as a sub running wherever the bat signal would show. Sears occupied my time throughout the summer and then ended with a big horrah!!!! I was able to pick up 3 steady schools for the 2010-11 school year working at Trinity Catholic School in Protivin, St. Joseph's Catholic School in New Hampton, and DeSales Catholic School in Ossian. All three are elementary P.E. positions and have been great to have as I always know where I am going for the day, except when I make a wrong turn and go to the wrong school on a certain day, opps! I also was able to stabalize my Driver's Ed. position by picking up a gig with NICC in Calmar teaching courses at Crestwood High School. It was nice to know what money I had coming in, making it more predictable!
Racing, Riding, and Outdoor Fun.
- Well racing my bicycle went fairly well for the 2010 season. I was a part of the Team Wisconsin/MC2 team for the season. This was a crock!!!! Team did nothing for me and glad to have dropped them for the coming year. Team cost me to much money and no incentives! This did not deter me from having the most successful season I have ever had. 1st place finishes in 5 races this year (Time Trials, Stump Farm, Northern Kettles, Levis Trow, John Muir) Lots of riding this year as I rode the gravels/snow mobile trails in the snow and trails while they were dry. 100's of hours on the bike this year. Ski'd many hours on the cross country ski trails while winter held it's grasp on NE Iowa. Started to run more and more as the year progressed and now am aiming at picking up the running in 2011.
Travel
- Got to see a little bit of the world in 2010. Well not the world but rather just the Midwest. Traveled to many races in Wisconsin seeing most of the state. Went to many Hawkeye Football games in the great town of Iowa City. I was able to take a vacation in Door County Wisconsin with the miscreants from my college years (HAHA)! I was also able to spend some time with my old friend Karen in Madison,WI. Other than these travels, work beckoned and kept me from getting very far from home!
Well if you have read through this, I have just wasted about 4 minutes of your life with my boring life. The past is the past and is behind me now. Helped to shape the future though as there are parts you want to repeat and parts that you want to forget. Thanks for reading and look for my misadventures in 2011! ! OUT!
