Couple Week Update!

Well it has been a little while since I updated this thing. It has been beyond crazy and beyond comprehension around here. Well to start, went to the doctor the day of my grandma's wake and found out that I had a sinus infection. That would have explained my string of many sick days and feeling like absolute crap. That same day my dad went to the ER with a intestinal obstruction. He got morphined enough to make the trip to Cascade and hold over for the funeral. On friday two weeks ago I went to Des Moines and stayed in Ankeny with my dad at a hotel as I was heading to Arkansas for the Ouachita Challenge. Sat. Morning in the ER in Des Moines at 3 am with more and more pain for my dad. He was set there so I headed out at 8 for Arkansas w/ Shockey and wife. 9 1/2 hours later we were in Mena, AR. Nice hotel room, great scenery on the way down, felt like shit the whole way w/ car sickness and cold crap! Sunday was race day. Very excited to start my actual mountain bike schedule, would end up a little disappointed at the end of the race. The race for me wasn't what I expected or what I would have signed up for. The race ended up in my perspective being about 30 miles of gravel roads/highways (great on a singlespeed), 15 miles of unrideable rocky shit that really wasn't all that fun no matter how you look at it and then possibly 15 miles of not back single track. Overall in my eyes this was a gravel road race with a little trail put in and lots of F'ing rocks. Finished 9th out of 36 for the 60 mile Singlespeed race in about 6:45. Major tendinitious in my right wrist still hurting and limited movement ever since. Pretty pissed that I payed money to mess up my wrist. The good news out of the race was I walked away with a $1000 set of Bontrager Race X-Lite wheels 29". That is definately a upside to the trip. After the race headed out about 1 hour later for home. Got about 3-5 hours of sleep on the way home and another 2 at Shockey's brothers house. Many thanks to Shockey, Julie and I believe Chris the brother for their transportation and hospitality. Dad was still in the hospital when I got back on Monday to Des Moines ended up sitting in his room there figuring out that Mercy in Des Moines has the rudest and most incompitant staff I have come across. They plain sucked, polite way to put it!!!!! Got him out of there and I drove him up to Decorah that afternoon then back to Iowa Falls. Spent the week feeling like garbage based on the fact that this sickness that I am dealing with has been draging on for about 6 months now and I got no sleep. It was a great week. Dad still in the hospital when I went to Decorah for the weekend. Ended up having surgury on Thursday and had 10 inches removed from intestines at noon before I could get up there. Happy Easter! Well not happy, Dad spent it in the hospital, I spent it painting and making trips to the hospital. It was an extended weekend and definately needed. Well back to Iowa Falls feeling halfway decent and boom all of a sudden that dream was over when I ended up with a blast of runny nose on Monday and a severe fever on Tuesday over 100 and complete garbage again. I haven't slept worth a shit in about a year and I am tired of certain things right now to say the least. 50 days till things get better. Can't wait. Well going to try and relax a little and hopefully I will be over 80% at least for the Time Trials in a week and a half. Looking forward to some fun this year. Well that is about it. Fisty Weekend Build. All for now. OUT!
