Decorah Time Trials

Time Trial Photo Courtesy of Shockey
Well as is normal for the weekend of the time trials there was weather. If was absolutely gorgeuos on Friday around 87 in Iowa Falls. On the way up to Decorah, I knew that we were in for another rainy year as I dealt with the view of lighting and sheets of rain in front and on the side of me. On Saturday, it was off to Rochester to visit my dad. He is in week number 3 of trying to get his insides working. He is doing better after the 3rd surgery with little pain anymore. After the visit it was to bed later that night to the gentle sounds of rain. Over night woke up many times to here if raining harder and at times I believe hailing. Sunday morning was all that welcoming with a heavy rain the whole morning. Got to the tent to sign up for my time and as in the past I was number 1 off the line. Starting the race I thought for sure I was going to be running through 4 inches of mud on the course. To my surprise the trails were actually in pretty good shape. The race was muddy but overall it was ridable most of the time. Definately had to go slower than normal pace due to the conditions but also this was due to the lack of conditioning or riding in general. I ended up finishing the course with only one crash and a handful of walking sections. I ended up 11th Overall in a time of 53:33.64. This was good enough for 2nd in my class 24-25. I was about 9 minutes off the pace of the leader Josh Shively out of LaCrosse. Decorah boys kicked some butt out there with Wakooon Boy finishing 2nd and Shockey 3rd. For the full results check them out at Decorah Time Trials Results. Overall happy with my finish. I know that with more riding I will definately be back in contention for the top spots. I can't wait to get on the trails everyday and get back into shape. That is about it. OUT!
