Cracks, Crap, and Surprises!!!!!

Well it has been a while since I posted last. I have been very busy for the past almost month now. Basically here is the round up. I started teaching Driver's Ed over at Turkey Valley right after the wedding on the 8th of June. I have finished the classroom portion now which was 3 weeks and have 2 weeks of driving 9 hours a day to look forward to. Not to bad of driver's over there but some close calls including a near head on collision at one point. I have also been doing alot of riding since the move. I have made it out all but 4 days for a trail or gravel ride. I have been getting about 2 hours a night on the trails and am starting to see improvements drastically in my fitness level. Like where I am heading. I feel as strong if not stronger than I was 2 years ago. Along with the riding I have also had some unfortunate things happen. First off the GF Rig that I so love finally bit the dust at one of the DHPT Tuesday Time Trials. The frame has snapped at the bottom bracket to the point of obvious no riding. Check it out!

OUCH!!!!

Next up for this wonderful time in my life, my mom who has been dealing with cancer in her leg for sometime now went to the doctor and found out that she has a severe crack in her bones down by her knee that is going to be requiring surgury, all to take place this week on Wednesday. Well keeping with the crack theme, my other beauty that is in my stable has also suffered a crack on near magnitude. While at Bluff Rider's Charge in Mankato, Optimus Ti cracked just below the headtube.

Unhappy Sight!!!

I am not very happy about this. I understand that frames crack from time to time but this bike has been riding less than 3o rides and tood nearly a year to arrive only to break severly, not happy about this senerio as this has left me without a trail bike in the dead of summer, ideal riding time. See where all of these "cracks" work out for me and my family. On a happy not, at the race in Mankato, I was givin a good test of my current abilities. I decided to step up to the Comp class over the Sport as I had done in the past. This meant riding 18 miles on the Expert loop of the course. Great course may I add put together by the folks in Mankato and would suggest if you are in the area hitting that place up at Mount Kato Ski Hill. The race was during a perfect day of 80's and sunny with a good breeze/wind to help keep you cool. Race went very well and was astonished at the fitness level I am at after only 3 weeks of real riding since a 2 year hiatus. I ended up 12th overall and 3rd in the Single Speed 0-34 class. Happy with the result, felt I would have done much better if I wouldn't have been worried about the crackling that was going on in my frame for part of the race. I am definately working towards my goal of Expert and high finishes in up coming races if I can get a bike. Lastly on a side not, air conditioner decided not the work at all in my place for this year, requiring a new one at some point. Of course this happened when it was near 100 degrees out and 100% humitity. I guess it is helping me aclimatize to the weather. Well that is all for my rant. Hope to get good news on all of the cracks in my life. OUT!!!
